    How to compress images online

    1. Choose one or more images, or drop them onto the box above.
    2. Choose Quality and move the slider, or choose File size and pick a limit such as 500 KB or 1 MB, or type your own. Results update as you change it.
    3. Pick an output format. WebP gives the smallest files and JPG works everywhere.
    4. Download each image, or select Download all (.zip).

    Why compress images?

Smaller images load faster, use less mobile data and fit within email and upload limits. For websites, lighter images also help pages score better on speed tests, which matters for search rankings.

    Questions

How much smaller will my images get?

It depends on the picture. Photos usually shrink a lot when saved as WebP or JPG at quality 70 to 80, often without a difference you can see. Images that are already well optimized may shrink very little, and TinyPic keeps the original file in that case.

How do I compress an image to under 500 KB or 1 MB?

Choose File size, then tap 500 KB or 1 MB, or type any limit you need in KB or MB. TinyPic finds the highest quality that still fits. If quality alone cannot get there, it also reduces the dimensions a little, and the result shows the final size in pixels.

    Which setting should I use?

Start with WebP at quality 75. If you need maximum compatibility with older software, choose JPG. Lower the quality slider until you can just see a change, then step back up a little.

Why does a PNG not get much smaller?

PNG is lossless, so there is no quality slider to trade away. Choose WebP or JPG to make it much smaller, or use File size mode, which saves PNGs as WebP automatically. JPG has no transparency and fills transparent areas with white.

    Are my images uploaded?

No. Compression runs entirely in your browser, so your pictures stay on your device.

Can I compress many images at once?

Yes. Add as many as you like, then download them one by one or all together as a ZIP file. Very large batches depend on your device memory.
